Can I use a face shield to protect myself and others from COVID-19?
CDC does not currently recommend use of face shields as a substitute for masks.A face shield is primarily used for eye protection for the person wearing it. Yes, you are still considered a close contact even if you were wearing a mask while you were around someone with COVID-19. Should travelers wear masks?
In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, CDC recommends that everyone wear a mask over their nose and mouth when in the community setting, including during travel if they must travel. This as an additional public health measure people should take to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in addition to (not instead of) social distancing, frequent hand cleaning and other everyday preventive actions.
